About Casey

Hello! *waves* I'm glad you've stopped by. As you've probably guessed from that title up there, my name is Casey Alane Wilson. I'm currently a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow in the Writing and Communication Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and I received my Ph.D. from the University of Florida in May 2016.

I specialize in children's literature, with an emphasis on twenty-first century young adult literature. I also work heavily with digital media, American literature, popular culture, games, and comics. I currently teach in the capstone design and implementation sequence for Computer Science majors in the Writing and Communication Program at Georgia Tech.

In addition to my academic work, I am a writer of young adult fiction under the name Casey Alane. I currently have a novel under editorial submission; I am represented by Jim McCarthy of Dystel, Goderich, and Bourret.

My latest project is EncyclopedYA, a podcast all about the themes, tropes, and trends in YA literature. You can listen here, on any of the usual podcast services, or at the widget to the right!

When I'm not working, I'm probably hiking with my dogs, watching television, or taking pictures. Unless otherwise noted, I am the photographer for all images that appear on this site. You can check out my Instagram below for more!
